Last Friday was Go Texan Day! It's a way to kick off the Houston Rodeo starting. There's cookoffs, rides, and concerts...it's a really, really, really big deal here! A few years ago we saw George Strait and some of my students saw Miley Cyrus...some parents paid up to $1000 for tickets....CRAZY. We all got to wear jeans (which is a HUGE deal where I teach), hats, and boots. Kinder and 1st make a really big deal out it and we have a parade at the end of the day. Kinder walks through the halls as we cheer them on and 1st rides "horses" throughout the hallways. My kids were sad those days are gone...they kept asking "Don't we have a party in 2nd grade?" So I thought I would share some pics from that day! (When I first moved here I thought it was to celebrate the state of Texas...I was very confused!)

My class...notice the poses??

My FAVORTIE girls....yes, teachers have favorites! Ha! SHHHH!

Waiting in hallway outside my room for Kinder and 1st to come around the corner...they were sooooooooooooo excited.

Our mascot "Cubby" and A.P. andPrincipal. Everyone wanted to High Five Cubby!
